Help the Helpless

Our mandate with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ is to care for the needy and the homeless, rebuilding their lives and restoring hope through compassion and unconditional love; to treat every individual, who comes to us for assistance, with the utmost dignity and respect.

There is also the Refuge of Hope which is operated by Open Heart and located at Albion Road in Montego Bay. The Refuge of Hope prepares clients for rehabilitation and re-assimilation: rehabilitation activities such as gardening, chicken rearing, literacy classes and sewing; helps to equip our clients to live stable and productive lives upon their departure from the Shelter.

We currently serve eighty (80) to one hundred (100) persons on a daily basis, providing two (2) hot meals at our day Centre and three meals at the Refuge of Hope.

Our income generating projects include chicken rearing (broilers and eggs), vegetables and jumble sale.

Since our inception we have re-assimilated twelve (12) persons who have either been gainfully employed or started businesses on their own or with partners and two couples that are now married and living on their own.
